The Hopkins County Board of Education conducts meetings on the first and third Monday in January, March, May, June, August, September and November. They conduct one meeting on the third Monday in February, April, July, October and December. The Board may agree to hold special meetings or change meeting dates. Any such change is announced 24 hours in advance per the local news media. Copies of the meeting agenda are available for distribution at all regular Board meetings.
All Board meetings with the exception of executive or closed sessions are open to the public. In addition to school board members and the superintendent, other school representatives who attend meetings include the district's central office administrative staff, building level administrators, and the Board's legal counsel.
The Hopkins County Board of Education wants to know the public's opinion about the school system. Public participation and recognition of guests is a standard agenda item at each Board meeting. During this time, the public is welcome to address comments to the Board.
